What a starting position is worth
He starts P4 — what are you buying? Every race start on file, sorted by the slot it started from: where those cars finished, what they scored, and how often they were leading after lap one.
Race starts only — sprint starts are not counted in any figure on this page. A start with no grid position on file is left out entirely. “Where they finish” and “What they score” come from the grid_to_finish table; “Leader after lap 1, 2, 3” comes from leader_after_lap, which stores all-time rows only and covers just the seasons with lap-by-lap data on file.
